For over 30 years I have been trying to freeze clothing as if it were on the body, while retaining the visual quality of the fabric. Each effort produced interesting work, but was never exactly what I was looking for. The Boys are the closest I have ever come. After finishing a few, I was surprised by their animation, and their configural and narrative potential.
Since the collar is the strongest part of the jackets and at a convenient hight to grasp, I invited the audience to move the Boys around the space during the show at Method Gallery. This gave me the opportunity to explore those potentials and made this my first interactive piece.
